Tears for a Generation
Who do not understand?
Who only feel they hate and anger
There rose up a generation who knew not the Lord.
A generation who were dispossessed and hopeless.
Everything fed into their anger-the multiple hurts, the lack of resources, poverty, the new Jim Crow
There rose up a generation
That was left behind- people ran away from them, people left them, people were scared of them,
Not just people who were different from them but people who were like them
There rose up a generation
Who were flammable by the media they consumed,
They were told you can have it all but not the cost, the work or the sacrifice
There rose up a generation who had no elders/mentors to speak wisdom
They lived in a 15/30/45 cycle
There rose up a generation that we didn’t connect with
We stayed in the King’s house eating the king’s food and believed the story
But The Dream can only be realized if come out of the king’s house and realize we were made for such a time as this
Our education was made for such a time as this
But many of us will continue to live in the King’s house and eat the King’s food and keep silent for the King’s money
But who knows when it will be someone you know someone you love and your silence/inaction – was the trigger to their end

Beautiful piece that captures the challenge of today. This generation has been abandoned and labeled unreachable and unteachable, and our approach towards them has left them without training and understanding! We have to reclaim this generation one person at a time!
